Today was a beautiful day, so we decided it was time for Sadie and Fargo to start their swim lessons.

It took Sadie a while of standing in the water before she finally was ready totry swimming and even then I had to help her out into the deeper water. After that, she was a swimming fool.

Fargo is a waterdog, plain and simple. We couldn’t keep him out of the water and trying to swim to the other shore across the lake.

Big Bad Monster

Yesterday I picked up a used window A/C unit to put in the dog’s room so that we didn’t have to cool the whole house this summer in an attempt to keep their little 10×10 room cool.

The dogs were bugging the crap out of me while I put it in. It went in without too much trouble, the dogs were sniffing it out seeing what this thing was all about when all of a sudden this big white thing turned into a big white monster! It started blowing air at us and making a rumbling sound. It was quite clearly a Big White Boogie Monster!

I actually turned it on with the remote that came with it. Oh my gosh, you thought the world ws coming to an end and this thing was getting ready to eat the three of them alive!

They all started barking at it and running for the back door. When I let them out, they all went running off the porch and came to a screeching halt as they rounded the corner. There was that damned monster trying to sneak out the window and get us in the yard! Will this thing never leave us alone!

It took an hour for them to quit barking at it! I wish I had had my camera with me.

Long Night Last Night

Sometimes you have to wonder, “What the hell?”

Last night there was a pretty big thunderstorm that came through our little spot in Texas. It wasn’t any different than any other thunderstorm that we’ve had come through, but tonight at about 1:30am, Ursa decided she didn’t like thunderstorms.

Since we have had her, I can’t even count how many storms we’ve had. She has slept through every single one that has hit us. It didn’t matter if it was daytime or nighttime, she totally ignored them. Tonight’s storm though, she decided these things are scary and started whinning and just wouldn’t stop.

I got up at about 1:30am, Ruthanna got up about 2:15am, we both were up about 2:30am but nothing seemed to calm Ursa. Finally about 3:30am, Ruthanna laid down on the couch and Ursa immediately jumped up on the couch with her, laid down and quit whining.

Ruthanna then deided it would be best for the two of them to sleep on the dog couch, as they have done before,

and not on the good couch. Ruthanna didn’t want to give Ursa the idea that now it was ok to get on the good couch and once everyone was settled in, all was ok for about an hour. Then Ursa decided the coast was all clear and got down.

Of course jealous Sadie had to then get up and rest with Mom since Ursa got to do that. Luckily for Ruthanna, that only lasted about 10 minutes before Sadie decided that that really wasn’t that much fun and got on down and Ruthanna could get back to sleep.

Hopefully tonight there won’t be any more thunderstorms and we can all get a good nights rest!
