What Now!? That’s a common phrase in a house with three puppies under one year old!
**See Update Below**
It started with 3 cats. Three very quiet and more or less well behaved cats: Leon, the lonely grouch, aka Death from Above (will sit on the table and wait to swat at anyone who is close), Widget, the one who wants to be everyone’s friend, including the dogs and last but not least, Uku, who really does not appreciate the dogs being in the house but will tolerate them if they keep their distance.
We really weren’t looking for a dog but we heard of a farm that had Great Pyrenees puppies that needed new homes. We’d always admired Pyrs and what could it hurt to look? That’s how Ursa came into our lives. She was everything that a well behaved puppy should be and so we decided to add another puppy. Everyone has to have a leash to hold, right? After much research we decided that a Newfoundland would balance out the Pyr personality and so we brought our first Newfoundland, Fargo, from Michigan to his new home in Texas. Within weeks we were asked by a friend to try to help a couple that he knew who were having trouble adjusting to their new Newf puppy. Long story short, the family was ready to rehome their girl. The original plan was to bring her in short term until we could help her find a new home. She found a home alright – with us. That’s how Sadie joined our pack of puppies.
When you have three puppies life is very very busy and it’s easy to forget the little joys along the way. We’ve started this blog to help us remember the journey.
**Update
Well, it’s been about 3 years now and there have been changes. For one, our pride and joy, Fargo, had to be put down due to seizures from a brain tumor. The other change, the others are now much older but we have a new addition, Bob, the Mastiff. This takes our blog in a new direction as we follow Bob (and the others) as he fits in with the crew. It could be a bumpy ride!
