Ursa at 12 weeks
Ursa at Christmas 2008 (8 mos old)
One day we were taqlking with some friends about dogs and it was mentioned that they new a farmer who had a pair of working Great Pyrenees that had had a litter of pups. Of the litter a few of the pups were probably not going to be good working dogs. Now how at 8 weeks old, you can tell this, I have no idea but when we saw Ursa (when she was about 12 weeks old), we knew this was the pup for us. Of course looking back on things, we realized she fooled us a bit.
Neither of us had had a pup in many years and while we knew of the possible problems, time has a way of fading just how much work they really can be. Ursa didn’t help matters as she has acted well above her age. As a small pup, she hardly caused any problems. Oh, maybe the occasional shoe chewing but really not much of a problem. Of course as she has gotten older that has changed a bit as now the regular Pyr traits have started coming out, but by now it was too late and we were already probably in over our head but just didn’t know it yet.
